75% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 1% Syrah and Grenache

Tasting Notes

The 2021 Blackboard Merlot shows a dark purple to ruby hue in the glass where aromas of plums, candied ginger and mint lead to flavors of salted caramel and dark chocolate. The body is full and rich with polished, fully present tannins. Long, pleasing finish with lingering flavors of chocolate and plum.

Vinification

Fermented 7-10 days with extended maceration and aged 20 months in French oak. The tank was CO2’d to prevent oxidation and loss of aromatic intensity. Traditional pump over techniques were used for extraction.
